Blaine, Minnesota – a community situated 11 miles north of downtown Minneapolis has seen year after year exponential growth. The City’s growing residential and employment population, has resulted in continuous office and retail development. Below is a highlight of upcoming and underway projects in the City of Blaine.
Commercial
A new 32 acre development developed by Wellington Management – located at 109th and Lexington Avenue will include retail, office, restaurant, and other commercial uses as well as a multifamily housing development. Roads in the development have been constructed, a 192-unit senior housing facility titled the Legends of Blaine has opened, Starbucks and Kwik Trip tenants are both under construction in the coming months.
Additional commercial projects underway on vacant parcels throughout the city include: a two-story 56,000 SF medical office building, 6,500 SF retail building, Spire Credit Union Branch, a 14,000 SF medical/mixed-use retail building, a 85,000 SF Hy-Vee Grocery store, Renovation Church facility, a dog daycare and boarding facility, a stand-alone pizza restaurant, a vet clinic and a new 117 SF seasonal sports stadium dome at the National Sports Center.
Industrial
The city has attracted new employers and has also seen expansions of existing employers over the last year. Existing employers expanding their operations in the city include: Midwest Diesel who is constructing a new 36,000 square foot building on their current site, A & C Metals is a metals service center and is adding on to their current operation and Menards will be adding an additional 16,000 SF to their current facility. New industrial projects and employers for the City include Crown Iron Works who constructed a 70,000 SF R&D facility with over 100 jobs, Dem Con, a metal recycling facility and Vega Trailer, a truck/trailer repair company – currently under construction.
